My First Post

"Deceived? Picking up the pieces? How depressing!" one might say.

As we go about our lives in this modern world, we try to ignore that crunching sound under our feet. We are trampling the slivers and shards of something that was once very important to our society. We have shattered this thing, and we are liberated! We are no longer being restrained by this foolish, obsolete old idea. Today we are free! And we are so much happier because of it! Right?

Why is it that when people are free to pursue any and every pleasure, it never seems to be enough? Whether it's shopping, gambling, eating, partying, hooking up, watching movies, or anything else, it never really satisfies. What is it that we are missing?

Maybe we just need to help the environment. Surely that would make us feel better about ourselves. No, we just need to spend more time with our families. I mean, that's what is really important after all, right? But after the volunteering is over, and the relatives go home, we're back to where we started.

Many are content to live their lives, trying their best to ignore this basic emptiness. Sadly, for others the logical conclusion is self-destruction. Rather gradually through reckless behavior, or all at once by suicide.

Perhaps the answer is something utterly unthinkable today. Perhaps we should take a closer look at that thing our society so gladly abandoned so long ago. That unwanted old thing that lies around us in pieces, that we are constantly trampling over.

What we need is TRUTH. George Orwell predicted a dystopian society where to accept what is false is what is expected. To accept the popular values of today's world is to deny the truth. Haven't you noticed that in today's modern world, we are seeing more and more of the Doublethink and Doublespeak that was predicted by Orwell? While it may have seemed like we have just abandoned religion, responsibility, the family, and so many other values, what have we really turned our back on?

The answer is, of course, the truth.

The truth was given to us by God. He made it incarnate in his son Jesus of Nazareth. The western world is based on the basic principles he gave us to live by. Today, we are taught to despise our own civilization. It is evil, it is bourgeois, and it is certainly racist. But this is more Doublethink! To say the west is inferior, yet to see the wonders of its grand accomplishments is to believe something that is obviously false. The west is the most advanced civilization today because we accepted the truth and built our world on it!

The generation before mine abandoned the truth. They sought to be "liberated." But from what? They taught their children moral relativism instead of right and wrong, tolerance and acceptance instead of standing up for what is right. They taught us that no one belief can be completely right. We truly are the deceived generation!

Yes, it is a sad situation that the truth is so obscured by the destructive "advancements" of the past generation, but it is in our fallen nature to reject what is right. But to have the scales fall from our eyes is a truly wonderful thing. It is worth seeking the truth, no matter the cost, or how ugly reality may look when we see it for what it is. This is why picking up the pieces is such a joyous thing.

My goal for this outlet is to share some of the slivers of truth I find along my journey.  I don't want to write about myself, I'm a rather dull person.  I have, however, come to realization that my generation has been deceived.  We have been cheated out of so much of the truth.  As I come to this realization, I can't fight the urge to proclaim the splendor of the truth to all who will hear!

"Justice is turned back,
and righteousness stands far away;
for truth has stumbled in the public squares,
and uprightness cannot enter."

Isaiah 59:14
